The Löfstedt Review fits into wider Government measures to overhaul what it sees as a ‘health and safety culture’ in this country. While it concludes that “there is no evidence for radically altering current health and safety legislation”, it nevertheless makes 26 recommendations for change, 6 of which the Government have highlighted as priorities. What recommendations does the review make, how will the Government go about implementing them and what sort of an impact will they have?
Participants in the morning policy session will be briefed about and discuss the recommendations, implementation and impact of the Löfstedt Review. The afternoon application and enforcement session will examine how it can be ensured that health and safety legislation is properly applied and enforcement made more consistent. Delegates will have the opportunity to engage with the expert panel throughout.
Delegates will be drawn from all those with an interest in health & safety, including those with specific responsibility for health & safety in their organisation, employers, HR managers, inspectors, the legal and insurance sector, elected members, trade unions, and the third sector.

Professor Ragnar E Löfstedt, Author Of The Löfstedt Review, November 2011“My overall conclusion is that there is no evidence for radically altering current health and safety legislation... That is not to say that every piece of regulation contributes to a safer and healthier workplace.”
