Context:

The police and local authorities have a duty to combat gangs and the impact they have. As well as safeguarding young people from gang exploitation, they must work to reduce violence and protect the wider public. The recent rise of ‘county lines’ has created new challenges for local agencies.

Join us in January to receive guidance on tackling gangs and develop your local strategy. You will hear about ‘what works’ in tackling gangs locally and receive practical guidance on how to strengthen the response to gangs in your area.

Key Issues to be Addressed:

  • Understanding the national picture and Government action on gangs
  • County lines: tackling gang activity outside of urbans areas
  • Working in partnership to build robust structures and safeguard vulnerable young people
  • Understanding and confronting the link between gangs and runaway/missing children
  • Learning from success: What works in tackling gangs?
  • Examples of effective partnership working
